We are using micro-tunnelling to build the majority of the reservoir pipelines, as this will minimise disruption for local communities. More detail on what micro-tunnelling involves, as well as our overall construction plan, can be found in our information leaflet.

You can also view an overview map of the reservoir pipelines route by clicking here, or access our more detailed online map, where you can give us your comments by placing a virtual pin.

Key pipelines construction activities for Barncroft Way / Stockheath Lane

The work being carried out in your area is for access Shaft W4 of the pipelines, which will be located at Stockheath Meadow in the green open space north of the Hermitage Stream and to

the west of Stockheath Lane. The shaft will allow us to put a Micro-Tunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) underground to build sections of the pipelines.

What this means for you

We are working closely with local authorities to minimise disruption for communities while carrying out the work safely and efficiently.

Construction traffic: Vehicles will access the site via a designated route along Barncroft Way and Stockheath Lane (Click here for a map). On average, there will be five return trips per day (i.e. to and from the site) by HGVs or our tractor and trailer unit. Wherever possible, journeys will avoid peak times, and there will be no planned vehicle movements during drop-off and pick-up times at the nearby Trosnant Schools.

Temporary access point: During the pipeline works, we need to have a dedicated access point in place to allow construction traffic to enter and leave site safely. The site entrance will be on the western side of Stockheath Lane, north of the turning into the Trosnant Schools site.

Parking: From the start of work on site, approximately 14 metres of Stockheath Lane will require new parking restrictions to allow safe access to the site entrance (see map below). Advance notices and signage in place while restrictions apply. Residential driveways will not be affected.

Footpath diversions: The two public footpaths across Stockheath Meadow will need to be temporarily diverted from Quarter 3 2026 to Quarter 2 2028, and then fully reinstated upon completion. The agreed diversions will be clearly signposted.
