August 2022

31 August 2022: Ecologists have had a really successful few weeks and have now relocated more than 180 reptiles to new habitats we’ve created for them near to the Havant Thicket Reservoir site. The 180 included grass snakes, slow worms, lizards and even one adder!

4 August 2022: From this week, work is taking place to treat and remove Parrots Feather plants from a pond within Havant Thicket woodland – the pond is located in the south eastern section of the woodland, just north of the Forestry England car park off Manor Lodge Road in Rowlands Castle. The attached picture shows the bright green Parrots Feather on the right of the pond.

3 August 2022: We have an important further update on the planned works on the B2149 related to our Havant Thicket Reservoir scheme.

2 August 2022: Work is now underway to build a trial embankment on the Havant Thicket Reservoir site.

July 2022

28 July 2022: We’ve received some questions asking why the footpath along The Avenue woodland on the Havant Thicket Reservoir site (as shown on the attached map) is now closed.

26 July: From Monday 8 August 2022, temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place on the B2149 between Horndean and Rowlands Castle for approximately nine weeks. This is to enable a new junction to be constructed as part of the Havant Thicket reservoir scheme.

15 July 2022: We’ve seen lots of comments and questions recently about Southern Water’s potential future plans for Havant Thicket Reservoir.

14 July 2022: Portsmouth Water needs to close the Forestry England owned car park on Manor Lodge Road on weekdays from Monday 18th July for approximately five weeks. It will still be open at weekends. During this time there will be enhancements and upgrades to the car park surface to ensure we make the most positive use of essential closure time.

13 July 2022: Please note that the footpath running from north to south through The Avenue will close from Monday 25th July 2022 and will not be reopening.

4 July 2022: Southern Water is consulting on potential new ways of using Havant Thicket Reservoir in the future. To be clear, these proposals are not part of the already approved plan for the reservoir and are subject to further consultation and planning approval.
