What the reservoir will look like and how it will work

The reservoir will fill the majority of the 160-hectare site that Portsmouth Water has owned since the 1960s. It will be about 1.6km from east to west, 0.8km from north to south and up to 18 metres deep.

The picture above is a visualisation of how Havant Thicket Reservoir will look. You can also take a ‘helicopter’ tour to see what the reservoir could look like in the video we've made, which is below.

The reservoir will have sloping embankments on three sides and will include a wetland area to the north for birds and wildlife.

It will also be surrounded by paths and trails, woodland, hedgerows and wildflower embankments, with a visitor centre, car parking and picnic and play areas next to Havant Thicket woodland.

There's lots more detail available in our Havant Thicket Reservoir Design & Access Statement.
